Total employer cost per period: $0.00
Annualised: $0.00
- Supplemental wages (bonuses) use a flat rate under Method III, which this calculator does not apply.
- Yonkers nonresident earnings tax is not included; the Yonkers option covers the resident surcharge.
How New York withholding works
Employers use the exact-calculation method in Publication NYS-50-T-NYS. They subtract a deduction allowance for your status ($7,400 a year single, $7,950 married) and $1,000 for each allowance on Form IT-2104, then apply the Method II table for the pay period, with rates from 3.9% upward.
NYS-50-T-NYS publishes Single and Married withholding tables only, so the calculator has no head-of-household option for New York. If your federal status is head of household, choose the IT-2104 status you gave your employer.
New York City and Yonkers
New York City residents have a separate city withholding computed from the NYS-50-T-NYC tables, at rates from 2.05% to 4.25% of net wages. Yonkers residents pay a surcharge equal to 16.75% of their New York State withholding. Choose your city in the calculator to add the line. Nonresidents who work in New York City pay no city wage tax; the Yonkers nonresident earnings tax is outside this calculator.
Disability and Paid Family Leave
Employers may deduct up to 0.5% of wages for statutory disability benefits, capped at $0.60 a week. Paid Family Leave is 0.432% of gross wages in 2026, up to $411.91 for the year; enter your year-to-date pay to see the deduction stop at the cap.
